ABOUT US

We were bitten by the bonsai bug in 1986/87 and have been able to stave off its effects only by indulging in this intriguing artform. At that time there were very few places from which to acquire the things needed for their care. We read and read, and researched and researched to find sources.  And then, we decided to make a place where one could get bonsai and everything necessary for bonsai. We quickly ran out of space and purchased the old home next door, tore it down and began building greenhouses, bonsai display banks, cold frames, pot shed, aggregate shelves, and areas for collected and pre-bonsai trees. We ran water lines, gas lines, and electrical; and we laid so many tons of pavestone we lost count.

We can offer you a very pleasureable time strolling through the nursery where there are hundreds of finished bonsai, lots of pre-bonsai and literally everything you will need for your bonsai. You'll enjoy our water garden, fish pond, stream and waterfall, and lots of comfortable places to sit and let your stress just flow away!

Many people have asked about our name "Sanderson Creek Bonsai", since it is not our last name. Well, for a bit of history: James Sanderson was the original patentee for this section (640 acres) of land from the State of Texas in the mid 1800's. His 5-acre farm site is a stone's throw from our present location. In 1898 this area was platted into Glenwood Addition and remains as such today. There is a creek in the block northwest of us that the City of Fort Worth has covered and placed underground. It does daylight further north and is a tributary of the Trinity River. This creek is called "Sanderson Creek". As the name is not only melodious, using it allowed us to connect into our local history. Thus established, we have begun to create beautiful grounds as a setting for our bonsai; of which, we believe, Mr. Sanderson would be proud!
